Lizzie & Ben are marrying later this year at one of Dorset’s most stunning stately home wedding venues, Hethfelton House. When meeting them we had talked in length about the advantages of engagement photoshoots. They both had reservations about how relaxed they would be in front of a camera. So we decided that Dorset countryside engagement photos would be the perfect experience. https://youtu.be/WnQxhB1at88
The Perfect Location For Dorset Countryside Engagement Photos
We’d been talking about the best location for their engagement photos for a while. We knew they fancied somewhere in the Dorset countryside. But the options were many. Then, one evening on a mountain bike ride in Purbeck we spotted something special. The sun was starting to dip behind the treeline. To our left bluebell woods speckled with glowing blue flowers. To our right vast swathes of bright yellow oilseed rape flowers. This, we thought, was the perfect spot in the Dorset countryside.
Later that week we met Lizzie and Ben in a nearby car park and prepared them for their engagement shoot. We had timed it perfectly so that we would have time to shoot through the low evening sun and into ‘golden hour’ Lizzie and Ben were a little apprehensive at first. Walking through the fields we put their minds at rest and got them used to being around us and our cameras.
Engagement Photos in Bluebell Woods
The bluebell woods did not disappoint. The smell of the trees and wild garlic filled the evening air. The delicate flowers created a green and purple-blue carpet. From here we could incorporate the woodland, flowers, and couple into our pictures. We then gave the guys some prompts that had them laughing together for their Dorset countryside engagement photos.
Yellow Flower Field Couple Photographs
A minute’s walk away and we found a path through the oilseed rape fields next door. The blue sky and bright yellow flowers contrasted beautifully.
Lizzie and Ben were so impressed they started taking their own pictures of each other. Giving them some time together in the stunning location they walked around a nearby field. All the time with a view back over Corfe valley. On the horizon, we captured some wonderful silhouette shots.
Sunset Engagement Photos in Dorset
The low evening sun was now creating long dark shadows across the fields and woodland. This allowed us, in turn, to create some unique Dorset countryside engagement photos.
Positioning ourselves on the edge of the woods we were able to incorporate not only the trees but the fields of yellow flowers as the sunset in the background.
Lizzie and Ben are such a naturally happy couple, we can’t wait to shoot their Hethfelton House wedding. You can see their Hethfelton House, Dorset wedding venue photographs here.
