King Alfred’s Tower Engagement Photos
Charlotte & Sebs King Alfred’s tower engagement photos took place on a sunny, crisp spring day in Wiltshire. Murray and I drove through the stunning countryside to the Stourhead Estate. Happy memories came flooding back of shooting a stunning Stourhead house wedding.
Friendly And Relaxed Couple Photos
For the first half an hour or so of an engagement shoot we tend to just chat with a couple. We like to work more as ‘friends with cameras’ than photographers to help a couple relax. Charlotte’s mum was accompanying their ‘ever ready’ dog. We always find it helps to have someone else around with a pet whilst we are focusing on the couple.
Engagement Photos In The Grounds Of Stourhead Estate
Charlotte & Seb were pretty happy as they walked hand in hand around the beautiful woodland and grounds. Immediately the shafting sun, shadows, and intense colours drew our eyes in for couple photos.
The location did not fail to amaze. Even with many a dog walker and family we found we were able to disappear down a shaded woodland track, pop into a secluded forest area and meander down a sweeping valley. By this point, Charlotte & Seb were clearly having fun and were not afraid to show their feelings for each other in front of the cameras.
St Peters Pump
Stopping in the shade of St Peters pump, a holy well which marks the source of the river stour, looked like we had unwittingly entered a valley from Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings. Here we left the happy couple to it, shooting from a little further away. They soon went from lovingly jovial to sharing a quiet, somber moment in each other’s embrace.
After taking a few photographs against the bright blue, fluffy clouded sky their dog was super keen to be included. Dogs rarely need any direction as they simply love having their photographs taken!
King Alfred’s Tower Engagement Photos
It was then time for the highlight- King Alfred’s Tower engagement photos. In the distance loomed the imposing outline, dominating the landscape. It is said to be near the location where Alfred the Great rallied the Saxons in 878 before the victory over the Danish army at the Battle of Edington. Every day is a learning day!
This folly just kept growing and growing as we approached, straining our necks to see the top. This giant building made a really interesting backdrop in the strong sunlight.
After these King Alfred’s Tower Engagement Photos we can’t wait for Charlotte & Seb’s wedding, where we will have the chance to tell the story of this fun-loving couple’s big day.
