Smedmore House Wedding Photographs With Aimee & Jack
Having met with this lovely couple a few times before their wedding day we were very excited to see their winter wedding plans come to fruition and create their Smedmore House wedding photographs. Overlooking Kimmeridge Bay in Dorset this stunning 15th-century country house wedding venue is less than 7 miles from our office. We know it well and love its unique character.
Wedding Morning Groom Preparation Photographs
Our Smedmore House wedding photographs actually started at the Springfield Hotel in Wareham. Here we met Jack and his groomsmen for breakfast. There were some ‘serious’ discussions about the big day plan of attack before everyone disappeared to get wedding-ready. Donning wedding suits with matching burgundy ties they all met for a swift drink before heading to Smedmore house.
Smedmore House Wedding Preparation Photographs
Arriving early to create these Smedmore House wedding photographs we were greeted by Polly Smith, the wedding planner from Blue Bay Events (and Jack’s sister). Clutching her clipboard and walkie talkie she looked ready for action. We, therefore, had to remind her that her primary job for the day was to be one of the four bridesmaids! In the wonderful bridal suite hairdressers and MUA extraordinaire Cat Mutter was getting the ladies ready for the big day. The stunning wedding flowers from Charlotte Trim Floristry were almost as colourful as the huge rainbow outside.
The bridesmaids and flower girl moved from room to room providing helping hands where needed. The bridal prep really was a team effort. Now looking stunning in their burgundy bridesmaids dresses they helped Aimee into her beautiful wedding dress. The wedding marquee supplied by Chique Marquees was in the rear garden, sheltered from the elements. The groomsmen were busy moving outdoor heaters and directing traffic.
Morning tasks completed they greeted guests as they began to arrive. The registrars arrived and began the paperwork with Jack and his best man. They then found refuge in the kitchen to enjoy one last drink before the ceremony.
Marquee Wedding Ceremony Photographs
This was the first time that Smedmore House wedding photographs had been taken in a marquee in the walled garden. Soon the marquee filled and guests awaited the arrival of the bridal party. Flower girls and bridesmaids led the way escorted by groomsmen. Aimee arrived with a huge grin on her face walking in arm in arm with her father.
The happy couple made their promises to each other after readings from family and friends. The bridal party and close family then headed into the house for the ‘official ceremony’. This completed, the bridal party soon had the guests outside armed with confetti. The newlyweds’ then stepped out as a married couple as handfuls of confetti rained down on them. We had just enough time before the heavy rain came to capture a small number of group photos. After some indoor photos of the bridal party, everyone was asked to take their places for the speeches.
Smedmore House Wedding Photographs of Wedding Speeches And Breakfast
First of all Aimee’s father kicked things off the wedding speeches with stories of Aimee growing up. This was followed by an ‘off the cuff’ speech from Jack himself, who did not forget to thank everyone involved in the big day. The best man then brought the speeches to a close resulting in laughter and applause.
Wedding breakfast was served to each table with amazing platters by James and the team from The Salt Pig. At the conclusion of the wedding breakfast, a dividing curtain was pulled up to reveal the stage and dance floor at the far end of the marquee.
Smedmore House Wedding Photographs Of Evening Entertainment
Wedding band The Generations completed their soundcheck. Next, the new Mr and Mrs Smith took to the dance floor for their first dance. Guests surrounded the dance floor and were almost immediately invited to join them. After which some serious shapes were thrown and before you knew it there was a bridesmaid dong the worm!
Meanwhile, keeping the crowd fueled with tasty beverages were the team from The Paddock Mobile Bar. The band blasted out some classic sing-a-long tracks which had everyone bouncing on the dance floor. To one side of the dance floor, a wedding photo booth had been set up from Picture That Booth. During a drinks break, the bride and groom were able to have a moment in the main doorway for some night time Smedmore House wedding photographs.
