Woodland Lulworth Castle Wedding Photos with Harriet and Lee
Ever since meeting Harriet and Lee for their Badbury Rings engagement photographs we have been very excited about creating their Lord of the Rings themed wedding photos at Lulworth Castle. Their beagle Buddy told us it would be the best wedding we have ever been to!
Lord Of The Rings Themed Wedding Photos Bridal Preparation
Harriet calmly began her day at her parent’s house with her two bridesmaids. Millie Peters was on hand to style makeup on this bright September morning. Hair was styled by Aston, a friend of Harriet’s from Vanilla Hair and beauty.
During the morning Harriet gave gifts to her bridesmaids and family. Her mother and father were on hand to help with refreshments and the logistics of bridal preparation. Stunning wedding flowers arrived from Signature Flowers, purple and yellow flowers with woodland greenery. Sat next to the flowers was a basket of confetti made from the pages of Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings for the flower girl to sprinkle.
Lord of the Rings Themed Wedding Photos Groom Preparation
Meanwhile, at Lulworth castle Lee’s groomsmen had arrived to assist him with his morning preparations for the Lord of the rings themed wedding. He gave them gifts and revived some of his own including ‘Buddy the beagle’ cuff links. Once they were all dressed they headed for the Weld Arms pub for a quick drink and many toasts.
By the time they had walked the short distance up the driveway, guests had begun to arrive. Buttonholes were positioned and then Lee himself was ushered inside as news of the bride’s arrival came through.

A beautiful Vanden Plas ‘Princess’ from Austin Beaufort Cars carried the bridal party (looking almost like royalty) as it pulled up outside the castle. First to enter the Saloon was the flower girl and bridesmaid followed by second bridesmaid and groomsmen. Finally, Harriet was escorted down the aisle by her proud father. Harriet’s Nan aided by her brothers gave a reading before they made their promises to each other. They exchanged rings and were proclaimed married (surprisingly not in Elven at this Lord of the rings themed wedding). The castle walls echoed with cheering and applause.
After the signing of the register they were joined by the happy couple’s beloved Buddy the beagle. Well a cardboard cut-out at least, who managed to get into a number of the photographs. Guests (and buddy) gathered on the grand stone staircase at the front of Lulworth Castle wedding venue. Armed with more Lord of the Rings themed wedding confetti they showered the newly-weds as they descended.
After a few group photos everyone was welcomed onto the castle lawns for a drinks reception complete with canapés and garden games. As a surprise for his new bride Lee had booked Johnny Phillips acoustic guitarist. He set the mood with his chilled summer vibes. During the Lord of the rings themed wedding drinks reception we took the new Mr and Mrs for a stroll around the gardens. We captured some couple shots on this special day with Lulworth Castle in the background.
Lord of the Rings Themed Wedding Photos Speeches and Evening Entertainment
Upon our return guests were now asked to make their way inside for the wedding breakfast. Speeches were given by the father of the bride, the best man, and groom. They all enjoyed an excellent wedding breakfast served up by Beales Gourmet Catering. After the meal, we took the opportunity to take the bride and groom for a woodland walk. As the sun set we met a very friendly peacock who couldn’t help photo bombing!
Back at Lulworth Castle it was time to cut the cake. A tall four-tiered Lord of the rings themed wedding creation from Dream Cakes by Michelle. This was decorated with woodland flowers and a silhouette cake topper depicting the happy couple and their beloved beagle. Obviously, cake cutting in Lulworth Castle at a Lord of the rings themed wedding is done with a sword.
Guests gathered around the dance floor awaiting the first dance. This was followed by a second dance with Harriet’s father. For the rest of the evening guests had Lord of the rings themed wedding cake and cheese to eat. A rustic photo booth from Box Photo Booths was set up and proved very popular with the guests and buddy even posed for us!
