Harbour Heights Wedding Photographs in Poole
I thoroughly enjoyed my pre- wedding shoot with Paul and Bekki, (see their Sandbanks engagement photographs here) so it was with excited anticipation that we prepared for their Harbour Heights wedding. In contrast to our last Poole wedding the weather forecast was scary so aside from the camera kit, waterproof clothing, umbrellas, wetsuits and towels were packed!
Poole Hotel Bridal Preparation Photographs
Inside the Honeymoon suite at The Harbour Heights Hotel Bekki and her bridesmaids had exploded into the mornings wedding preparations. In amongst the bouquets of soft yellow and pink roses (from Simply Flower) the girls rotated from hair dressing to makeup styling. They took time to admire the gorgeous views across Pool Harbour and keeping an eye on the weather.
Bekki’s mother arrived to lend her support and deliver a lovely necklace. Bekki had a few surprises up her sleeve for her big day. The first being sets of pearl jewellery for her beautiful bridesmaids.
Hair curlers came out, makeup saw the final touches and the bridesmaids laced each other into their pastel pink dresses. By the time Bekki was stepping into her dress the girls excitement was almost tangible.
From a Dorset wedding photographer’s perspective the Honeymoon Suite is fantastic. Large, bright and full of details. That morning the girls transformed from beautiful to even more stunning. A truth reflected in Bekki’s fathers loving eyes when he came to collect her.

Meanwhile, at home in Dorchester, Paul and his groomsmen dealt with the challenge of three piece suits, button holes and striking blue ties with ease. The champagne flowed and Paul had the foresight to top up his hip flask with whiskey.
What happened next was one of Bekki’s best kept secrets of the day. A Ford Mustang (from RR Elite, one of our recommended wedding transport suppliers) arrived to collect Paul, much to his excited surprise.
Paul and the chaps loved the new addition to the day. They spent quite some time with the car at home and on arrival at The Harbour Heights Hotel.
Once he could pry them away Paul and the chaps settled into the Hotel bar. They greeted and entertained the morning’s Harbour Heights wedding guests as they arrived.
With all of the guests seated Paul and his best man stood proud in the Heights suite. Against the scenic, panoramic backdrop they enjoyed the moment full of laughter and anticipation.
The bridesmaids led Bekki and her father down the aisle. The lovely wedding ceremony left barely a dry eye in the room.
I mentioned in our previous blog post that working with Paul and Bekki felt like working with long lost friends. As the two said their vows and exchanged rings everyone in the room could feel uplifted by the love between them.

Next the guests moved back into the bar and out on to the sun terrace. We decided a trip down to the beach in the Mustang was in order. After a quick couple of shots with the stunning view across Poole harbour the happy couple decided they wanted to walk in the shallows.
We had arranged to borrow a couple of Stand Up Paddleboards from The Watersports Academy. We then took these down to Sandbanks beach. By this point in the day I had expected to be wearing a wetsuit and holding an umbrella. As the weather was only overcast it was the perfect lighting for photographs.
Bekki and Paul again demonstrated how much they love to have fun posing on the boards. Even risking a soaking in the sea. The sand was perfect for Bekki’s ‘Just Married’ sandals. She left a trail of prints leading back up the beach.
A V6 ride back up to The Harbour Heights Hotel and it wasn’t long before the guests were called into Wedding Breakfast. Bekki and Paul entered to a standing innovation. Next they took their places at top table, against the panoramic backdrop.
The Heights Suite in The Harbour Heights Hotel looked beautiful. As ever Maria from Simply Flower worked her magic with some stunning floral creations. She had added vintage birdcages topped with crystal birds. The wedding cake stood atop a silver stand decorated with pink ribbon and wooden love heart. Each guest was treated to a pink candy striped sweet treat bag.
Harbour Heights Hotel Wedding Breakfast
The food at The Harbour Heights Hotel is to die for. There is no exception when it comes to their wedding menus. Hannah and her team again co-ordinated the day so smoothly you barely noticed their presence.
As the warm orange sun set over the harbour the guests fell about their seats laughing at the speeches. Bekki and Paul’s contagious fun loving nature had spread throughout the room.
Harbour Heights Evening Reception Photographs
The well fed and rested guests returned to the bar area. They were just in time to see the last of the light fade over the harbour. Next the wedding disco was set up as the evening guests arrived.
Jars of sweets were laid out and the guest book filled with entries. Before they knew it Bekki and Paul were cutting their cake. They swirled about the dance floor surrounded by the wedding party.
In the midst of the dancing guests and coloured lighting and lasers we could make out Paul and Bekki. Still hand in hand laughing and joking as they had been from the moment they met on their magical day.
