Ashleigh & Adam’s Seaside Fun Themed Wedding
It’s not often we shoot a wedding we can walk to. After recently creating chocolate themed wedding photographs in Bristol it was nice to be working near to home. Living in and taking Swanage wedding photos in a small town, it was bound to happen- a wedding we could walk to! Ashleigh’s wedding perfectly reflected her personality, full l of the things that are important to her in life. Family, fun, children, the seaside, glitter and dancing.
Swanage Wedding Photos of Bridal Preparation
Walking in the hot morning sun I found Ashleigh and the girls preparing for the big day in her flat, just down the road from our office. The sunlight streamed in through the windows overlooking Swanage bay as Ashleigh, her mother, bridesmaids and children whizzed about the flat in a blur of preparation. A wonderful setting for some Swanage wedding photos.
Ever since Ashleigh had initially decided to contact us about photographing her big day we could tell just how personal to her it would be. She had hand picked or hand made just about every detail of decoration involved. The hand made pink and purple wedding bouquets sat in a bedroom with the wedding dress, wedding bible and an extremely cute flower girl’s dress.
The classical elegance of Ashleigh’s Viva Bride ball gown dress was emphasized with detailed beading as it glowed away in the window. To punctuate the pastels and add something blue to the occasion Ashleigh had chosen a pair of striking Kurt Geiger blue Carvela Women’s Kollette closed-toe heels.
The bridesmaids took a break from entertaining children, making food, ironing and all of the other tasks a wedding morning involves to don their dusty pink Greco-Roman bridesmaids dresses. They looked gorgeous. They were, however immediately outshone by Ashleigh’s eldest children in their incredibly cute page boy and flower girl outfits!
Yasmine Taylor was on hand for all the girls wedding hair styling and even trimming needs!
The always happy Cat Mutter, make up artist extraordinaire arrived and worked her magic on the the girls. Before she knew it Ashleigh was calmly slipping into her wedding dress with the help of her ever attentive mother.

With her veil fitted we departed into the heat of the sun on the beach, joining the multitude of tourists on the sand.
Back in the cool shade of the flat the girls had time to catch their breath, make final adjustments to hair and make up and leave for All Saints Church.

Meanwhile Murray found Adam and his best man just up the road at the Pines Hotel in Swanage. They were enjoying a drink in the hotel garden which is perched on top of the cliff overlooking Swanage bay. Back in their room they changed into charcoal suits with pale pink ties with matching pocket squares. They both retuned to the cliff top garden to put on their buttonholes in the sunshine. They too then made the short walk down the road to All Saints church.
Swanage Church Wedding Photographs
Murray visited the church earlier capturing Swanage wedding photos of the decorations that had been put up the night before. Pink crepe pom poms hung from white ribbons across the roof. Large pink heart shaped pink balloons gently swayed at the back of the church whenever the breeze came in through the doorway.
Adam and his best man greeted guests as they arrived. Ashleigh’s two brothers had been given the job of ushers and they stood at the door issuing the orders of service as guest arrived. The chaps moved to the front of the church where the jokes with family slowly faded to a nervous quiet.
First to arrive were the bridesmaids and flower girl. They waited a short time before Ashleigh arrived with her father. Outside the whole group paused for a few moments outside to gather themselves. The vicar led the bridal party into the church hand in hand with the flower girl.Adam’s nervous face disappeared as he saw Ashleigh for the first time. Ashleigh could not stop grinning from ear to ear throughout.
During the ceremony two readings were delivered and the happy couple made their promises to one another. The marriage was blessed and rapturous applause broke out from the guests. Ashleigh and Adam next made their way down the aisle as husband and wife. Once outside guests armed themselves with confetti and some even had handheld confetti cannons! The newly weds exited the church and confetti went everywhere. Up, down even sideways . Once the confetti had settled everyone enjoyed a drinks reception in the sunshine outside the church.
Swanage Wedding Drinks Reception Photos
The bouncy castle, space hoppers and face painting behind the church had not gone unnoticed by the many children at this wedding. After some group photos they couldn’t wait to get involved. Inside the church tables and chairs were moved to make it ready for the wedding breakfast.
Alexa Temel had laid out a mouth watering array of hot and cold buffet foods. The bar was serving a huge range of drinks suitable for a hot summers day. A contented quiet settled in the church as guests enjoyed time off their feet and the tasty food.
After wedding breakfast many of the guests ventured outside to enjoy the sunshine. Children and adults alike had their faces painted and Ashleigh could resist the call of the bouncy castle no more.
Swanage Wedding Evening Photos
Back inside Martin from Hooles Discos had set up his DJ rig complete with illuminated LOVE letters underneath the church window. The wedding cake was cut and our happy couple took to the dance floor for an unofficial first dance. It wouldn’t have been Asheligh’s wedding unless the children were dancing with her. They showed up most of the adults with their moves!
As the dancing continued inside Ashleigh had a glittery floral tattoo added to her arm. She then rejoined for the Macarena and the happy couple left through a human archway!
Next, we drove the newly-weds up the road to Studland for some Swanage wedding photos with sunset on the sand dunes. Upon the premise of capturing more images overlooking Poole Harbour we parked up at the Sandbanks Hotel. Unbeknown the Ashleigh this was where they would be spending the night – a surprise from her new husband.
