Karen & Paul’s Sandbanks Hotel Wedding Photos
It has been a while since our last Sandbanks Hotel Wedding Photographs so we were excited to be back at this stunning sea side venue in Poole. You can see more of our Sandbanks Hotel wedding photographs here or read our Sandbanks Hotel wedding photographers wedding venue review here.
It was a beautiful summer’s morning as Tom and I took the chain ferry across from Studland to Sandbanks. A short drive then saw us arrive at FJB’s Sandbanks Hotel wedding venue for the wedding of Karen and Paul.
Bridal Preparation Photographs at Sandbanks Hotel
We found Karen and her eight (!) bridesmaids upstairs in the midst of having hair styled by one of the bridesmaids while bubbly was drunk. I left Tom with the girls while gifts were exchanged and the gorgeous wedding flowers arrived from Simply Flower. Karen’s wedding dress hung in the window and the bridesmaids ivory dresses on personalized wooden hangers. Paul had crafted a wonderfully written note to his bride that had all of the girls in tears.
Groom Preparation at Sandbanks Hotel Wedding
Meanwhile, downstairs I found the Compass Suite dressed for the ceremony by Classic Chair Covers. Cream sashes were tied over white chair covers and an ivory three tier wedding cake from Cake by Saide Smith took pride of place.
Paul then arrived with one of his best men and greeted his wedding guests. The groomsmen looked incredibly dapper in top hats and tails. A look which was completed with a chrome topped cane. Once the second best man had arrived and the buttonholes put in place Paul made his way to the Compass Suite at the rear of the hotel.
With a good luck kiss from his mum Paul made his way to the front of the room to wait for his bride to be with his best men, groomsmen and page boys.
Civil Ceremony Photographs at Sandbanks Hotel Wedding
Karen was led into the room by her bridesmaids all in matching ivory bridesmaids dresses and given away by her mother. The wedding couple then stood in front of the wooden floral arbour, beautifully framed against the beach and sea outside.
A tear filled civil ceremony saw the wedding couple make their promises to each other. As they returned down the aisle a guard of honour was raised by the groomsmen using their canes.
Wedding Drinks Reception Photographs at Sandbanks Hotel
The newlyweds and their guests then enjoyed a drinks reception on the sun terrace. Under the parasols out of the midday sun the wedding couple and their guests were entertained by Sean Haydon magician. His array of card tricks involved his pet goldfish and had some of the guests in disbelief as he worked around the sun terrace. Meanwhile inside the Compass Suite the Sandbanks Hotel team led by Sebastian turned the room around for wedding breakfast.
Speeches and Entertainment at Sandbanks Hotel Wedding
In Paul’s speech he thanked everyone and the room was full of smiles for the newlyweds. Following on his two best men entertained the guests with stories and anecdotes . After the guests and newlyweds had enjoyed desserts they were treated to more tricks from Sean Haydon. Again his goldfish a star. Seeming to dodge being set on fire it ended up in Karen’s water glass!
Singing Waiter Wedding Photographs
A secret extra member of staff then worked away ensuring that glasses were topped up. He was a singing waiter from the Silver Service Singers. He waited for a lull in proceedings after dessert and then took the microphone. Keeping up the act he told the guests that it was his first day at work and had been put up by his boss to deliver a speech to the wedding couple.
After some confused looks around the room most of the then guests twigged that this was part of the day’s entertainment. The singing waiter worked the room whilst expertly delivering some classic sing along songs which had everyone merrily singing away. He finally finished off with a conga line involving virtually everyone in the room. The performance came to a climax with everyone in the room spinning there serviettes in the air. Before the wedding guests had time to catch their breath Sean performed his magical finale which was to make one of the guests levitate!
Evening Reception at Sandbanks Hotel Wedding
With the lower sun and temperature we took the wedding party onto the beach for some group photographs. A group of the ladies gathered behind Karen as she prepared to launch her bouquet of flowers into the air. With the bouquet thrown and caught the wedding party headed back indoors. Meanwhile Party Dexx set up for the evening’s entertainment. Before the DJ kicked off the new Mr and Mrs Cut the cake and then took their places for their first dance as husband and wife.
After some of the guests had joined them for a boogie we stole Karen and Paul away for some couple photographs. The sun then set beautifully over Poole harbour making the perfect backdrop to a perfect wedding day.
