Verity & Terence’s Purbeck marquee wedding photographs included a church wedding ceremony in Swanage and a wedding marquee the like of which we had never seen on the side of a hill overlooking Swanage in Dorset.
Who said you can’t have a wedding on a hill? In the two weeks before the wedding of Verity and Terrance we saw first hand (from our office window) the construction project for these Purbeck marquee wedding photographs. Its great shooting a wedding so close to our home in Swanage, barely any travel and a clear idea of where everything is happening.
We met with Verity a number of times in the lead up to this wedding to discuss plans for the big day. Seeing the location for the marquee before hand did make us wonder… a marquee perched halfway up a hill overlooking Swanage great view but how do you do that? Well with a lot of hard work from a great team of people this dream came to fruition.
Bride Preparations Purbeck Marquee Wedding Photographs
We arrived shortly after we left our office in Swanage. Just up the road we found Verity and her legion of bridesmaids, flower girls and page boys. The pro team from Amazing Face were on hand to aid everyone with hair and make up. Gifts of champagne glasses were given to Verity’s bridesmaids accompanied by small bottles of bubbles to go in them! Flowers arrived from The Flower Place a stunning combination of white orchids and blue flowers in a cascading wedding bouquet. After running around the house a few times the flower girls and page boys were ready before the bridesmaids donned their deep blue bridesmaids dresses.
Meanwhile Verity was getting into her stunning white detailed wedding dress with the help of her mother. With a tear in his eye her father was first to see her wedding ready. He escorted her down stairs where the rest of the bridal party awaited.
Groom preparations Purbeck Marquee Wedding Photographs
Terrance and his groom squad were at home with trusty dog Cairo. The morning was warm with anticipation for what lay ahead on this wedding on a hill in sunny Swanage. The chaps took my sage advice and made sure they they kept themselves hydrated. Once everyone was just about ready, Terrance added his blue Everton FC cuff links and they headed out for St Marys Church. Here Terrance dutifully greeted guests as they arrived before heading inside himself to await the arrival of his bride.
Swanage Church Wedding Ceremony Photographs
First to arrive were the flower girls and bridesmaids in the families blue Bentley. They gathered in the sun outside waiting for the arrival of the bride. This was Terrance’s cue to take his place at the front and wipe the tears from his eyes.
Verity arrived in the blue Bentley with her father, driven by her brother. The whole bridal party gathered nervously in the church doorway. The church was, by this point in the day almost full. Once the flower girls, bridesmaids and page boys had come down the aisle it was time for Verity to make her entrance. Terrance looked ready if not a little emotional. He had his father and best man next to him for support.
With beaming smiles the happy couple made there promises to each other and exchanged rings. Now married they took care of the paperwork with help from their chosen witnesses. They came down the aisle as husband and wife and were whisked away in the family’s blue Bentley.
Reception Purbeck Marquee Wedding Photographs
The newly-weds took some time with close family at grandma’s house. This gave the guests time to ascend the footpath leading to the marquee perched on the side of the hill. While the newly-weds had some photos of the two of them in the garden guests were admiring the panoramic view of Swanage from the marquee terraces . Verity and Terrance were driven up to the marquee and entered to rapturous applause and much cheering.
After a relaxed drinks reception in the summer sun everyone enjoyed a barbecue wedding breakfast . The younger guests had plenty of space to play and run around and were treated to the skills of a balloon artist.
Speeches At Purbeck Marquee Wedding Photographs
The wedding speeches were called, first up was Verity’s father who shared stories of verity growing up with her brothers. Next came Terrance’s father who thanked everyone involved from Terrance himself. To bring the speeches to a close was the bride. This speech had every one laughing from start to finish and closed with the whole marquee raising a toast to the happy couple. There was one more part to the speeches when a surprise drag queen took center stage to have a go at the new groom. This too had the guests in fits of laughter.
Evening Entertainment At Swanage Wedding
There was time for everyone to relax in or out side and enjoy drinks in the sunshine. Evening guests arrived before the couple took to the dance floor for their first dance. Wedding band The Sparks were on hand to provides the soundtrack for the evening. Only pausing for the newly weds to cut the deconstructed three tiered wedding cake created by Sarah’s Cake Company. After a wonderful sunset we left the buzzing party as they danced the night away under the evening sky.
