Parley Manor Photographs at Dorset Wedding Venues Visit

As wedding photographers in Dorset we recently arranged to take some take some Parley Manor photographs and meet with one of our lovely ‘brides to be’. We arranged to have a look around her chosen wedding venues and to go through her exciting plans for the wedding day.

Fordingbridge Church Photographs

I met Katie and her mother at ‘Our Lady of The Sorrows’, catholic church in Fordingbridge in the New Forest. Even as an experienced wedding photographer I wasn’t sure I was in the right place. The building (especially for a catholic church) was beautifully understated.

Katie and Marks choice of a modern, bright church would allow us to take wedding photographs on using natural light alone. The organ balcony would allow us to maximise on the best angles throughout the service.

Outside Katie showed me the raised sun terrace and garden she would be arriving and leaving through on the big day. It would be the perfect sheltered sun trap for wedding confetti photographs.

A reason to hire two wedding photographers

The couple was understandably concerned that their guests would fill the church and more. They were therefore worried that we would have very little space to move when working at the service.

This is one of the numerous benefits of employing a team of two wedding photographers. So there is no need to move any great amount as we work from different positions within the church.

Whilst talking to Katie outside I was aware that she was particularly self-conscious in front of the camera. In her own words “I pull the same smile in every single photograph”. In his situation I find making a joke relaxes the ‘subject’. After a little time they come to regard the camera as an extension of the photographer. Not an object that requiring a self-conscious response.

Two minutes later Katie was no longer thinking about her smile or pose. So I captured some wonderfully sunny shots of her during the conversation. Not only had Katie and Mark planned their dream wedding but they were constantly thinking of their guests needs at every stage. With such kind and caring couples we find the story of the day is always that little more personal.

Parley Manor Photographs – A Stunning Wedding Venue

After leaving with a finalised logistical plan for the day I headed over to Parley Manor, a spectacular wedding venue in Christchurch, Dorset.

Pulling into the drive of a lovely old manor house, set in four acres of parkland and gardens is very impressive. The owner was kind enough to allow me to look around as they prepared for that weekend’s wedding.

Parley Manor Wedding Gardens

The first thing to make my jaw drop was the stunning gardens. So immaculately kept and well laid out. So many different locations for couple shots and perfect slopes for wedding group photographs.

If you were to look for it there was detail everywhere. Monoliths, statues, sculptures, archways bridges and the list goes on. The gardener concluded that Katie and Mark were lucky as most of the summer plants were just coming into flower. There was a definite vibrancy to the entire outside wedding space.

I could tell that someone had spent a lot of time thoroughly planning the gardens as a wedding venue. The views and areas all served to enhance the beauty of a wedding. Perhaps they had Parley Manor photographs in mind! The lawns dropped away from the house. The flowering beds swept into a lower garden laid out around a marquee used for wedding ceremonies. This was situated between a love heart adorned tree and the wooden reception bar.

Parley Manor Wedding Marquee

A walk through ornamental archways and the grand walled garden contains a huge wedding marquee with bar, toilets and kitchens. Surrounded by lawns, ornamental box topiary, statues, tables stone benches and a designer pond area the marquee is as beautiful outside as in.

On the inside the huge windows allow the sunlight to illuminate the day’s proceedings. For the evening a large chandelier. Tasteful wall lighting and subtle string lights create a wonderful atmosphere.

As I was wrapping up my  Parley Manor photographs I thought to myself “I wonder if this makes it into my top ten wedding venues”. Almost as an answer a dole of white doves flew past and landed in front of me!
