Netley Abbey Wedding Venue Engagement Photographs
A couple of weeks back I joined Katie and Mike for their engagement photographs at Netley Abbey wedding venue. They are to be married in the stunning Four Seasons Hotel. It seemed apt that they had chosen such a beautiful venue for their engagement photographs.
Netley Abbey wedding venue is a hidden gem. A ruined late medieval monastery in the village of Netley near Southampton. The English Heritage tourist attraction and Netley Abbey wedding venue has a reputation for providing inspiration. To poets and artists of the Romantic Movement.
Arriving on my own at the empty ruins I could certainly see why.
At first Katie and Mike were both a little camera-shy. They revealed that neither of them ‘enjoy’ having their photographs taken. Katie had also warned me of her ‘photograph head’ which seems to unwillingly angle to one side upon exposure to camera equipment! An unfortunate (depending on how you look at it) mistake was made in Katie and Mikes planning and they both arrived wearing matching jumpers! Personally I thought it was quite cute!
Engagement Photo Shoot in Southampton
The day’s scary forecast and rain downpours had fortunately broken for some sunshine. This really punched the textures and colours of the ruin’s stone and brickwork of Netley Abbey wedding venue.
At some point I realised that they had both developed into ‘naturals’ in front of the camera. Creating their own photographic ideas. The scope was huge, the mixture of textures, colours and shapes at Netley Abbey wedding venue lent to so many possibilities.
It always helps once a couple is relaxed in front of the camera that they are not only enjoying the experience but enjoying being together somewhere beautiful. It certainly bodes well for their big day. Such a loving couple.
Netley Abbey wedding venue offers so many different spaces. Using archways for framing, low stone walls for leaning on. High mismatched brick and stone walls and the entire building as a backdrop we created some stunning images.
Apparently Netley Abbey is alleged home to two ghosts. One of a white monk figure and another. A former abbot who appears as a dark figure. Or was it mike and I in our contrasting outfits?!
