A Mortons House Hotel Wedding in Corfe, Dorset
We have worked at some unusual weddings in the past but Dan and Lou’s Mortons House Hotel wedding in Corfe was unusual for a very different reason.
Mortons House Hotel Wedding Morning Preparations
This autumnal wedding was a great excuse for Murray to show off his photographic skills, not only was he able to shoot the wedding beautifully but he was also one of the groom’s party.
So come the wedding morning and the long anticipated day started with an excitement in the air. Dan and chaps were all busy with their assigned tasks (including hovering!) at the couple’s lovely Swanage home. In keeping with Dan’s personal retro styling tweed and corduroy with matching waistcoats and orange ties were the order of the day. They even had home made knitted button holes to show off. Knowing this group of chaps I can’t say I have ever seen these lads looking quite so dapper.
Bridal Preparation Photographs in Swanage
Meanwhile at California Barn wedding venue, overlooking the valley the girls were even busier with their morning preparations. Sunday the dog paid a visit and the girls styled hair and makeup against the backdrop of Lu’s dress in the window and her Ruby Shoo’s. This wasn’t just any wedding dress, this was the actual dress that Lu’s mother wore to her wedding- original retro if you like!
Once into the dress and her veil Lou looked stunning, adding to the beauty of her ever infectious smile. A quick drive to her Mortons House Hotel wedding in Corfe (in Dan ‘the man’s’ Rolls Royce) and the chaps and wedding guests were to be found waiting in the oak panelled drawing room.
Murray describes the Mortons House Hotel wedding ceremony as one of the most tear jerking moments of his life. Anyone who knows Dan and Lou knows how deeply head over heels in love they are. It’s like they were made for each other and their ecstatic smiles and declarations wet every eye in the room.
Following a couple of lovely heart felt readings the couple led their guests to a drinks reception and after a few group photographs departed in a shower of wedding confetti.
Wedding Photographs on a Steam Train
As the guests made their way up to California Barn wedding venue the Rolls Royce dropped the happy couple boarded the Swanage Steam Railway train from Corfe to Swanage. Waiting at the station Dan couldn’t help show off to the pocket watch carrying guard his own wedding present – a gorgeous skeleton pocket watch.
The lovebirds enjoyed some time together in the panoramic observation car as the train puffed through the valley and were transported once again in Rolls Royce style up to their California Barn wedding venue and arrived to a standing ovation.
California Barn Wedding Reception Photographs
The marquee at California Barn wedding venue had obviously seen a huge amount of work go into is preparation. Lou’s maid of honour Rozzy had wonderfully styled the colourful flower sprays and bouquets. Lou (working as Ice Gems of Swanage) had created a beautiful wedding cake with brightly coloured autumnal leaves. Her friend Sharon had even created a wedding ’spin the wheel’. Personal touches adorned every surface such as the orange lanterns on the roof. And a window of past and present pictures of the happy couple and their friends.
Wedding Breakfast and Speeches Photos
A huge treat came in the form of a wedding breakfast catered by Karla from Cherry catering. Such planning had gone into the details of the day that each table was assigned a ‘captain’ responsible for serving their friends.
As the sun dipped beyond the horizon outside the wedding party was treated to some lovely and hilarious wedding speeches. The best man had even thoughtfully incorporated Dan’s rude ‘tag’ onto the back of his speech.
After throwing the bouquet and a ‘drinks break’ Dan and Lu took to the stage. They cut their cake and Dan’s brother led his band for the first dance.
California Barn Wedding Evening Photographs
For the rest of the evening, the happy guests spent their time between marquee and barn. Either dancing to the band or DJ, eating more of Cherry Catering’s tasty treats. Draining the bar or taking photographs of themselves for the wall of Polaroids.
Murray displayed such talent in both roles as a groomsman and a photographer. It turns out men can multitask! A lovely day for such a lovely couple.
Looking for a Mortons House Hotel wedding photographer?
From the moment I first saw Murray working (and he never stopped) I knew there were going to be some great photographs, he was everywhere and he hasn’t disappointed.
The collection published here so truly captures the preparation, anticipation, events, emotion, excitement and love of the day.
Thank you so very much and congratulations on an excellent job.
Brian (Lou’a Dad)
Thank you so so much for our amazing wedding photo’s. They captured the day for us perfectly!
Murray is a good friend of ours so we were very happy that he played such an important role in the wedding. He was professional and organised throughout the whole day. I actually didn’t realise he was quite so busy and how much of the day he captured until we got the photo’s back. He managed to be so inconspicuous.
The service we received from both Tom and Murray was faultless, they were thoughtful and helpful throughout the whole process. From first discussing the wedding through to the wedding blog and the beautiful wooden memory stick with all the amazing photo’s.
We feel very lucky to have had One Thousand Words photographing our wedding.
Thank you. We love you guys xxx
