Looking back at our best wedding photographs of 2018 we realise that this was truly a year of stunning documentary wedding photographs. We worked at beautiful wedding venues, with wonderful brides, and incredible wedding suppliers.

Documentary Bridal Preparation Photographs

Wedding Hair and Makeup Styling

Working as a Dorset based wedding photography duo means that every wedding story can start with bridal and groom preparation and be told all the way through to the evening’s festivities. Our best wedding photographs of 2018 clearly show this wonderful narrative.

This year we have arrived at a series of gorgeous wedding venues in Dorset, Hampshire and all over the UK. The bridal suites at Hethfelton House and Walton Castle still stick out in our minds eye.

Easily integrating into bridal preparations we see the wedding day unfold around us.  Bridal wedding mornings have been made into dreams come true by incredible wedding hair and makeup artists such as FLC Make Up and Hair, Model Makeovers, Tara Sanger, Millie Peters, Jenny D and Laura Mackenzie (at our Italian Villa and Sandbanks Hotel weddings).

Wedding Videographers

We are fortunate enough to work alongside the best of the best when it comes to wedding videography. This year saw us shooting alongside Moo’s Movies, Beth Morgan, Final Cut Films, Thompson Films and Wedding Highlight Videos.

Booking the services of a wedding videographer duo comes with all the advantages as that of a wedding photography duo. We thoroughly recommend the stunning work of Zach and Grace and KE Wedding Films (who joined us for our Kingston Country Courtyard wedding photographs).

Wedding Florists

The smell, the colours and the smiles introduced by the floral creations of wedding florists at the top of their games were all made possible thanks to C J Flowers, Carnival Flowers, On The Wild Side Florist, Simply Flower, Hillview Flowers, Signature Flowers, A Touch of Love Florist, No 17 Flowers. This year the lovely Clair Lythgoe (from our South African themed Lulworth Castle wedding photographs) did us proud at the TWIA winning best wedding florist in the South West

Documentary Groom Preparation Photographs

Whilst one of us documents bridal preparations we can simultaneously capture the unique moments with the groom and groomsmen.

Wedding Transport

In 2018 we saw a cracking variety of wedding transport used to take our brides and grooms from A to B. With our wedding photography service including two photographers we have even achieved shots of the bride riding in her chosen transport at the same time as the groom greeting the arriving guests. Stunning quality classic cars and VW camper vans this year were supplied by White Dub Weddings (from ourTithe Barn, Symondsbury wedding photographs), Christchurch Wedding Cars, Dream Day Campers, Austin Beaufort Cars and RK Prestige. Dorset Dub Hire (featured in our RNLI College wedding photographs) will be needing a new display cabinet as they scooped the TWIA award for best wedding transport in the South West.

Documentary Wedding Ceremony Photographs

Shooting as a wedding photography duo allowed us to capture some wonderful wedding ceremonies from two different angles. We work less obtrusively as a single shooter, not needing to move for a different perspective on the event. You can clearly see from our best wedding photographs of 2018 the beautiful results.

Sometimes the best group photographs are those moments captured by a second photographer when no one is posing. People become less self aware when in a group, the perfect time for portrait photographs.

Documentary Wedding Reception Photographs

Looking back at our best wedding photographs of 2018 we realised how spoilt we have been with the wedding reception venues we have visited this year.

We shot in town halls, villas, churches, castles, barns, farms, stately homes, gardens, marquees and tipis. Obviously if you choose a ‘temporary structure’ for your wedding reception you want to hire the best, so big thanks to Taddle Farm Tents, County Marquees, South West Marquees and our recommended family run tipi and silcloth company Coastal Tents.

Wedding Planners

The incredibly important job of organising and managing a big day is often in the hands of experienced professionals. Where ‘in house’ wedding venue teams are amazing, a dedicated wedding planner can relieve even more stress from the event. In selecting our best wedding photographs of 2018 we noticed the incredible difference suppliers such as Blue Bay Events and Kierex made to the proceedings.

Wedding Venue Stylists

Hiring a venue stylist can take away from some of the pressures when it comes to layout, themes and décor. We are fortunate to have witnessed the skills of the best the region has to offer; Amps and Lamps, Fundoo Weddings and Events and Simply Flower (featured in our Parley Manor wedding photographs).

Wedding Magicians

Quite rightly entertaining wedding guests was of utmost importance to our 2018 clients. This is where wedding magicians have been important in keeping drinks reception and the evening flowing. We would like to thank Greg Williamson, James Maidment, Martin Rees, David Willmot and Wedding Magician Alfie for showing us a couple of tricks and not taking our wallets/ watches or rings

Documentary Wedding Couple Photographs

Our wedding photography services are perfect for brides and grooms who don’t like posing for photographs. Unlike many photographers we will not ask couples to assume a strange particular position, merely take a breath from the day together. Spending ten minutes away from the hustle and bustle of a wedding results in more natural images of intimate moments between newly weds.

Again the advantages of shooting as a team of two wedding photographers becomes prevalent during wedding speeches. Here we can capture the speech, the surroundings and the guest’s reactions without having to distract by moving about the room.

Documentary Wedding Evening Photographs

Wedding Cake Designers

Post Wedding breakfast typically sees the wedding cake cut. Until we get to taste these sweet creations we often think that it is somewhat of a shame to slice these incredible pieces of sugary artwork. This year Coastal Cake, Sarah’s Cake Company, Sadie Smith, Coast Cakes, Verity’s Creative Cakes, Dream Cakes by Michelle, Lisa Notley and Suephisticated Wedding Cakes all took our breath away with their creative skills. The famous Choccywoccydoodah even made a cake that took some time to convince us was actually real!

Wedding DJs

Over the years we have worked with a huge variety of Wedding Bands and DJs. They have the ability to absolutely make a wedding evening come alive. This year we witnessed UK Party DJ, Paul the Party DJ Taylor and Pegasus Disco expertly read the crowds and entertain till the last feet stopped dancing. Our recommended wedding DJ and all round lovely chap Iggy Wedding DJ (from our Canford School wedding photographs) won the TWIA best wedding DJ in the South West.

Wedding Musicians

When it comes to live music at weddings 2018 saw us working with some amazing musicians. As a photographer we get to enjoy the music without having to show off our moves!

This year Colts Wedding band, The Goodfoot Band, MotherUkers, Swing Machine, The Forever Steel Drum Band, Silver service, Alex Clifton, 20 to 1 Big Band (from our The Old Vicarage wedding photographs), BB3, Hashtag band, Charlotte Campbell all had our feet tapping and the guests dancing away all night. Every year we are in awe of these talented people, this year May Crick ‘Girls on Sax’ wowed us and had the wedding party baying for more.

Mobile Bars

The evening’s activities always seem to flow (!) better with a bar on site. With a plethora of impressive mobile bars out there 2018 saw us working with some great professionals Alterego, A&D Mobile Bar’s.

The Boxpub (seen in our Purbeck Valley Farm wedding photographs) deserves a special mention, not only for supplying one of our favourite beers on tap but for being one of the most amazing mobile pubs we have seen at a wedding.

Wedding Photo Booths

Evening entertainment is just as important as that during the wedding reception. At this time of day wedding guests’ energy levels are all over the place. In come the photo booths – fun for all ages. A big shout out to Magic Mirror Booth, Photo Booth Bournemouth, Box Photo Booths for making the evenings special

Nothing wraps up a wedding quite like a fireworks show and nothing  beats a professional display this year Firework Crazy really pulled off something special.

We had a tough time choosing our best wedding photographs of 2018 for you. The memories, fun, love, emotions and laughter came flooding back. We would like to thank all of the wonderful brides, grooms, venues and suppliers that we have worked with in 2018 who made all of these incredible love stories possible.
